The Australian Age Group Team Selection Policies details the process and criteria by which AusTriathlon will select its Australian Age Group Triathlon, Multisport and Long Distance Duathlon Teams.
You must be a current AusTriathlon Standard or Premium member (either Junior or Adult) by midnight of the Thursday before your relevant national selection event date to earn selection points towards selection to the relevant Australian Age Group Team.
Race at a National Selection Event
Take part in the identified selection events to earn selection points to qualify for the Australian Age Group Team. AusTriathlon publishes relevant Australian Age Group Triathlon and Multisport Team National Selection Points.

2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team Expression of Interest Application
Athletes must be 15 years old as of the 31st of December 2025 to compete in the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Mixed Team Relay (Draft Legal) World Championships.
Athletes must be 16 years old as of the 31st of December 2025 to compete in the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Sprint Distance Triathlon (Draft Legal) World Championships.
Athletes must be 18 years old as of the 31st of December 2025 to compete in the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships and the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Standard Distance Aquabike World Championships.
World Triathlon Important Update – Thursday 20th of March 2025
Due to increased interest in the 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team (Wollongong) World Triathlon has confirmed the exciting news that AusTriathlon may nominate a maximum of 35 males and 35 females (up from 25) in each age group category of the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon World Championships (Sprint Distance Triathlon, Standard Distance Triathlon and Standard Distance Aquabike) to be conducted in Wollongong, Australia from the 15th to the 19th of October 2025. A recent update to the World Triathlon Race Competition Rules has also now provided AusTriathlon the ability to enter unlimited 2025 Australian Age Group Mixed Relay Teams for the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Mixed Team Relay World Championships across all categories. Please read the 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team Selection Policy which outlines the process and criteria AusTriathlon will be using to select the 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team including the 2025 Australian Age Group Mixed Team Relays.

# Due to the number of athletes seeking selection to the 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team, AusTriathlon may not be able to confirm your individual application/s in a timely manner for those athletes who are individually requesting this. Athletes who complete an individual 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team Expression of Interest Application online will receive a receipt for this application to the relevant email address which you have confirmed in your AusTriathlon membership profile. AusTriathlon Premium Members will receive a 50% discount on each indivdual 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team Expression of Interest Application completed.

2. The Preliminary 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team will be announced on the AusTriathlon website by 5pm AEST on Monday the 26th of May 2025. AusTriathlon will contact all 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team Expression of Interest Applicants via email by 5pm AEST on Monday the 26th of May 2025.
3. The Final 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team will be announced on the AusTriathlon website by 5pm AEST on Friday the 4th of July 2025. AusTriathlon will contact all 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team Expression of Interest Applicants via email by 5pm AEST on Friday the 4th of July 2025. Australian age group athletes selected to the final 2025 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team will be emailed a large selection information document from AusTriathlon on Friday the 4th of July 2025 which will outline everything you need to know about the team including event entry fees, uniforms, accommodation packages, when to arrive for your event, course maps etc.

2026 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team (Pontevedra): 5pm AEST on Monday 27 April 2026.
2026 Australian Age Group T100 Triathlon Team (Venue TBC): 5pm AEST on Monday 10th of August 2026.
Age group athletes submitting a written application under either the 2025 and or 2026 and or 2027 Australian Age Group Team Selection Policies must also complete one or more 2025 and or 2026 and or 2027 Australian Age Group Team individual event/discipline online Expression of Interest Applications. Athletes will pay a $25.00 application fee per each individual event/ discipline when notifying AusTriathlon of their Expression of Interest for the 2025 and or 2026 and or 2027 Australian Age Group Team selection. For example, athletes who would like to apply for more than one event e.g., Standard Distance Triathlon and Mixed Team Relay (Draft Legal) will complete two separate online applications with a separate $25.00 payment for each individual event. Athletes are urged to read the relevant Australian Age Group Team Selection Policy.
